Not one to let DH have all the fun, I will make a guess of my own. Actually, I’m pretty good at measuring the pulse of Everyman. I seem to have a knack for just knowing whether or not something is going to appeal to a lot of people. By the way, I believe modesty to be a waste of energy.
The new sushi joint on Elm is sure to be short lived. I’m talking about Sushi Ya, at 1306 Elm Street.
My intuition just works but if you’re the type that needs facts to be comfortable with a theory I’ll list a few.
- The sushi is just average. For a restaurant like this to be successful Downtown, the locals are going to have to love it. Trust me, no one is going to drive in from North Dallas to eat there.
- It’s located in the Dead Zone of Downtown. Only the locals will know it’s there. See above.
- No valet parking. People from outside the loop don’t know how to park their own car. This will be a problem even though there is a parking garage entrance right beside the restaurant.
- It’s built into an old Williams Chicken location. The only way to have neutralized the bad karma associated with losing a fried chicken joint is to name the place Sushi Yo! Didn’t happen.
Remember you heard it here first.
