Just shoot me…

By DH

if I ever look as old as David Allan Coe.

Now before any rabid fanboys take me to task, let me just point out that I love David Allan Coe. If the crowd at House of Blues Thursday night was any indication, I’ve been a Rhinestone Cowboy fan since most of you were in diapers. But while I wasn’t watching, he got old.

In my mind, David Allan Coe is the guy on my copy of The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy album. Well, time marches on and while I haven’t aged at all since the seventies, he has.

That having been said, I wasn’t at all disappointed at the concert. Now, I’ll admit I went there expecting  to hear some of his beautiful ballads like The 33rd of August and Loneliness in Ruby’s Eyes, which he omitted,  he did do an old Guy Clark song that I like, Desperados Waiting for a Train. Plus, he played, non-stop for an hour and a half with no pause at all between numbers.

Pretty impressive for an old guy.
