Closing?

The word on the street is that Clear Ultra Lounge may be closing soon.

Call the number listed on their website, 214-289-1847, and you get a voice message from Richard Camp, former general manager, that he is no longer with Clear. If you try to reach Richard at the number he provides, 214-218-3953, you get a network message informing you that the number is no longer in service. Very odd.

The new Clear referral number is allegedly that of Danny Bowie, 281-513-9438. Call that number and you are greeted with “Hello?”, not the “Clear Ultra Lounge, may I help you?”, that you might expect. I had a conversation with Danny during which I explained to him that some of the valet guys were saying that Clear was going to close in two weeks. He was very evasive during the conversation, at one time saying “…we’re still open…”. When I asked him a direct question about whether or not they were closing shortly, after a somewhat significant pause he said, “We’re going to be open for a while.”

Something is going on. Anyone entrusted with the representation of Clear would have answered the phone properly. When questioned about Clear’s eminent demise, the correct response would have been, “Clear is going strong and we will be here to serve your needs for a very long time.”, if in fact that is the case.

I wonder what is going on? Perhaps in light of the recent assaults in front of Clear Ultra Lounge, the business is dropping off. Perhaps it’s just natural selection and they are experiencing what many have predicted would happen eventually. Perhaps the owners just aren’t much good at public relations.

Time will tell.
